Kelsey Adams, a senior who takes classes with VTVLC, first tried online learning during the COVID-19 lockdown and found that she preferred it to her in-person classes. “It made sense to take some online classes this year,” Adams said. “I found that it offered academic opportunities beyond those found at my in-person school.”

Like many students, Adams finds the self-pacing of online learning to be a particular benefit. “I like being able to work at my own pace and on my own schedule,” Adams said. “If I get my work done ahead of schedule I then have a free block during the school day to catch up on work for my in-person classes.”

For Adams, there has been no shortage of interesting coursework in her time at VTVLC. Most notably, Adams recalls an assignment that involved writing what students believed happened either before or after the events of an already-published story. “I had a lot of fun doing research for historical accuracy,” Adams said. “Apparently it paid off, as my teacher asked if she could use my story as an example for future classes.”

Overall, Adams has really enjoyed taking online classes this year. “My only regret is that I didn’t take more of them,” she said.
